Francis Bacon Exhibition

Went to the exhibition out of general interest, not specifically for the project, but found certain works inspiring concerning the presentation of gender in my own project.

His work 'A Nanny, a Bartender, and a Model: Francis Bacon's Women' inspired me to recognise different ways I could present the complexity and fluidity of gender identities. I found his work interesting as it allowed me to invoke concepts from my previous degree; particularly criticising traditional gender roles regarding women having the most burden within the family; emotional needs from the husband/children, and combined stress from the home and workplace. I love how certain pieces are so raw and generate so much emotion, it inspired me to consider how I can provoke a reaction from my desired audience in my FMP piece.
